About the course

The Four Noble Truths are the first teaching given by Shakyamuni Buddha. All the teachings he gave afterwards are based on these Four Noble Truths.

· The first truth teaches that we suffer because we are in cyclic existence, or Samsara, the beginningless cycle of death and rebirth.

· The second truth teaches that there is a cause behind our suffering (the delusions and karma that arise from ignorance, which prevents us from seeing how things exist).

· The third truth teaches that we can realise emptiness and thus cease suffering.

· The fourth truth traces the path to the end of suffering.
